Who Will Win the 2009-10 Stanley Cup? Part II
Montreal Canadians
The Montreal Canadians gave the Capitals a run for their money in their series. In the seventh game, Montreal pulled off the upset by beating the Capitals 2-1. The Canadians have had a bad year at 39-33. The Canadians have such great players as Mike Cammalleri, Tomas Plekanec, and goalie Jaroslav Halak. Montreal currently has no major injuries, only nagging minor ones. I believe Montreal won't make it past the Quarters. They will be playing the Pittsburg Penguins--so that will be the end of their upset streak.
Boston Bruins
The Boston Bruins took control of the playoffs from the beginning. They won their series against Buffalo 4 games to 2. The Bruins have not had the best year. A 39-30 year is not good, so I'm surprised they even made it to the Semis. The Bruins' key impact players are Mark Recchi, Zdeno Chara, and goalie Tuukka Rask. Boston's one key injury is to defenseman Mark Stuart who has an infected left pinkie and will not play in the second round. I think Boston will make it to the Finals and lose.
Chicago Blackhawks
The Chicago Blackhawks have had their share of losses in the Quarter-finals. The Blackhawks have had a great season at 52-22, and won their series 4 games to 2 against Nashville. I wouldn't be surprised if they made it to the Finals. The Blackhawks have such great players as Patrick Kane, Jonathon Toews, and goalie Antti Niemi. The Blackhawks currently have no injuries but they will most likely have some before the end of the year. I have a feeling that the Blackhawks will make it to the Stanly Cup.
Detroit Red Wings
The Detroit Red Wings, in their Quarter-finals, played a 4-3 series against Phoenix. The Red Wings have had a 44-24 season which is pretty average. They have great players like Pavel Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterburg, and goalie Jimmy Howard. Detroit has no injuries so far, but they will have some sooner or later. I think they will make it to the Finals but lose.
Soon I will post about the Stanley Cup. I will pick the winner once the two teams are set up.

Who Will Win the 2009-10 Stanley Cup? Part I
Philadelphia Flyers
Right now several teams are in the hunt for the Stanley Cup. Most of the them are done with the Conference Quarter-finals and are about to advance to the Semis. One team that is advancing is Philadelphia. The Flyers won their series against New Jersey, 4 games to 1. I guess you could say they've have had a good year--a 41-35 record is average. They have many good players such as Mike Richards, Claude Giroux, and goalie Brian Boucher, but injuries to key players Simon Gagne, Jeff Carter, and Chris Pronger won't help them. I think the Flyers will not make it past the Semis. They just can't defeat their other Conference teams.

San Jose Sharks
The San Jose Sharks are moving into the Semi-finals, too. They won their series 4 games to 2 against the Colorado Avalanche. The Sharks have had one of their best seasons ever with a 51-20 record. They have many great players such as Ryan Clowe, Joe Pavalski, and goalie Evgeni Nabokov. Currently, the Sharks have no major injuries going into the playoffs, but they do have some minor ones which may slow them down on the ice. I predict San Jose to make it to the Conference Finals and lose.

Pittsburg Penguins
The Pittsburg Penguins defeated the Ottawa Senators 4 games to 2 to make it in to the playoffs. The Penguins have had a good year with a 47-28 record. They have hall-of-fame material players like Evegni Malkin, Sidney Crosby, and goalie Mark Andre Fleury. Pittsburg also has no major injuries right now, only some minor ones that could hinder them going forward. I have a great feeling about the Penguins--it's a feeling that they will be champs once again. They will no doubt be in the Stanley Cup Finals.
Pittsburgh Penguins News, Schedule, Players, Stats, Video - NHL - ESPN
Vancouver Canucks
By defeating the Sacramento Kings 4 games to 2, the Vancouver Canucks have staked a claim in the Semis. The Canucks have had a great year, 49-28. Their most notable players are Mikael Samuelsson, Henrik Sedin, and goalie Roberto Luongo. Only one injury so far--Nolan Baumgartner (no information has been released yet concerning it). I have a feeling this team won't make it to the Finals.

The NFL Draft
It's that time again, tonight is the night were we find out where all of this year's crop of players go. Such players as: Jimmy Clausen, Sam Bradford, C.J. Spiller, Toby Gerhart, Thaddeus Lewis, and Tim Tebow. I will talk about several important people in the draft.
C.J. Spiller
C.J. Spiller of the Clemson Tigers was the best thing that ever happened to the Tigers. Spiller helped score most of the touchdowns in their games. Pretty much one kick returned per game. He is practically another Devin Hester. I think this guy is going to make 1st round easy. The team I think he is going to are the Jets. They could use him. He will be the starting kick returner for one team, but probably 3rd string for halfback. Here are some seasonal stats:
- 216 attempts
- 1212 rushing yards
- 5.6 Avg.
- 12 TDs

Sam Bradford
Sam Bradford of the Oklahoma Sooners is entering the draft as a Junior. I think it was a bad decision. After that injury early in the season his stats aren't high. Scouts don't judge how you sit on the bench or rock a sling. Maybe the scouts thought he did enough in the Combine. It is hard to say who will do good in the NFL. All sorts of college players who made history for their college went bad. Here are some stats of Sam Bradford:
- 562 yds (8,403 yards college career)
- 2 touchdowns (88 in college career)
- 0 interceptions (16 in college career)
- 2 sacks (25 in college career)

Toby Gerhart
Toby Gerhart of the Stanford Cardinals is one of the best running backs I have seen in a while. If you have ever seen the bulls running at Pampona that is what he is like when he runs. He practically runs over anyone that is in his way. I don't even know why teams bother tackling this kid. It takes three men to take him down. This guy will go First round easy. Here are some stats for this kid:
- 1,871 yards (3,522 in college)
- 27 touchdowns (43 touchdowns in college)
- 0 fumbles (0 in career)

Tim Tebow
Tim Tebow of the Florida Gators was a great thing for them. 2 years straight he led them to victories in 2 bowl games. This guy is a mixture of Peyton Manning and the old Michael Vick. I gotta feelin that he is going to make 2nd round. This guy is used to Florida's style of offense. NFL does something totally different. NFL doesn't do the option. I think he could play good at any position. Halfback would be great for this guy. Here are some stats:
- 2,895 passing yards (9,285 in college)
- 21 touchdowns (88 in college)
- 5 interceptions (16 in college)
- 29 sacks (57 in career)

1st Basemen of the AL East
1st Basemen of the AL East
The AL East has produced such fantastic first basemen as: Johnny Mize, Eddie Murray, Don Mattingly, Boog Powell, and the forever great Lou Gehrig. This year's group of first baseman are not exactly on the road to greatness. Here's my take on this year's starters:
Garrett Atkins
Garrett Atkins (Onetwo1--en.wikipedia)
(previously with Colorado)
The Baltimore Orioles are the not so good team in the AL East today. They are 2-11 currently. Their starting 1st baseman is a guy named Garrett Atkins. Atkins is a 30 year old, 7 year veteran in the MLB. He hasn't been with the Baltimore his whole career. So far this year he has a :
- .239 batting average
- 5 RBIs and no home runs (98 in career)
- 11 hits
- 2 runs
- 0 home runs (98 home runs in career)
- 0 stolen bases (8 in career)
My opinion is he is a below average hitter. If I were a coach I would not tell him to steal a base.

Kevin Youkilis

The Boston Red Sox have had an average year so far with a 4-9 season. The first baseman is Kevin Youkilis. Youkilis is 31 years old, six year veteran. Youkilis has been with Boston since he started out in 2001. Here are some quick facts:
- .217 batting average
- 6 RBIs (414 RBIs in career)
- 1 stolen base (20 in career)
- 10 hits (715 hits in career)
This veteran is going to get a higher average at the end of the year.

Lyle Overbay

The Toronto Blue Jays have a rather good year, 8-5 season. Their first baseman is Lyle Overbay. Overbay is a 33 year old, 9 year veteran. He was not drafted by Toronto, he was actually drafted by Arizona. This year is not a good year for Overbay:
- .115 batting average
- 0 home runs (102 home runs in career)
- 3 RBIs (460 RBIs in career)
- 6 hits (940 hits in career)
- 0 stolen bases (12 stolen bases in career)

Mark Teixeira

The New York Yankees are on a 9-3 season right now. Their main first baseman is Mark Teixeira. Mark Teixeiara is a 30 year old, 7 year veteran. Mark Teixeiara has not started off on a good note:
- .114 batting average
- 1 home run (243 home runs career)
- 6 RBIs (804 RBIs)
- 5 hits (1172 hits career)
- 0 stolen bases (15 stolen bases in career)
This isn't like the Mark Teixeiara I am used to. I think though he will be able to pull off a good season. It is only the 12th game.

Carlos Peña

Carlos Pena
The Tampa Bay Rays have had an excellent start to the season with a 10-3 season. Their first baseman is Carlos Pena. Pena is a 31 year old, 9 year veteran. Pena has had a good year so far:
- .273 batting average
- 4 home runs (206 home runs career)
- 12 RBIs (578 RBIs career)
- 12 hits (787 hits)
- 1 stolen bases (19 stolen bases in career)
I believe from what is here, these guys are not the best in the business. However they could be great one day.
